Beekeeper Studio is an independently run SQL editor and database manager. We offer two editions of Beekeeper Studio, a Community Edition which is free and open source, but has limited features, and the full commercial edition available for download here.
Beekeeper Studio is run by me, Matthew. I haven’t taken investment, and I’m not looking for an ‘exit’, I’m here to build software on my own terms, that means - open source, easy to use, and not full of spyware.
In fact, Beekeeper Studio launched a year earlier than ArcType, and because most of Beekeeper Studio is open source, you can be assured that we’ll be here for many years to come.
I built Beekeeper Studio because I got fed up with overly complex database apps that I had to re-learn every time I used them. I wanted something fast and light that felt like VSCode or Sublime Text, but for SQL.
Spoiler: I couldn't find a good app that fit my criteria, so I built one. That's why Beekeeper Studio exists today.
